Mrs. Mary Frances (Walton) Schlafer, 98 of 22 Winegard St.,
Sidney, NY died Sunday, January 15, 1989 at The
Hospital, Sidney, NY. She was born December 23,
1890, Brooklyn, NY the daughter of George Washington
Walton and Imogene (Castine)
Walton. She was predeceased by her husband, Alex
J. Schlafer, and brother Louis
Walton Sr.
She is survived by one
son, Richard W. Schlafer, Unadilla; three daughters,
Mrs. Barbara Fitzgerald, Sidney, Mrs. Jeanette Martin,
Sidney, Mrs. Virginia Sprague, North Ft. Myers, Fla;
12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a former member
of the Rebecca Lodge, Sidney, former member of Sidney
Lodge #225 O.E.S. former member of the D.A.R., Sidney,
oldest living member of the First Congregational Church,
Sidney, and former member of the Sidney American Legion
Auxiliary.
Funeral services will
be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 17 at the C.H. Landers Chapel,
Sidney. Burial will be at a later date in the Prospect
Hills Cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at their convenience
on Monday after 2 p.m.
Memorial donations may
be made to the Skilled Nursing Facility at The Hospital,
Sidney or to the Sidney Emergency Squad.
